Considering that the cost of cutting in and installing a kitchen sink in Kyiv is not a lot of money, following the step-by-step instructions, you can save these funds and do the work yourself.

How to install a sink in the kitchen with your own hands

To cut in and install the sink, you will need the following tools: a jigsaw (hand-held circular saw), a drill, a pencil, a screwdriver and silicone sealant.

Guide to cutting in and installing a sink:

  1. Determine the location for the sink installation.

The location for the sink cut-in should be chosen so as to provide access to the water and drainage communications. It is recommended to turn the sink over and place it face down where the installation is planned. When developing a custom kitchen design, take into account that the sink bowl does not extend beyond the side edges of the tall unit.

Make markings. Mark the outline of the sink with a pencil.

  1. You should repeat the outline of the sink, stepping back 1-2 cm from the edge of the sink, then draw the inner outline.
  2. We drill a hole for a jigsaw. If the hole is cut with a hand-held circular saw, drilling is not required.

  1. Cut out the hole. Note that the cut must be made exactly along the inner contour! Sometimes inattentive people make a cut along the first contour, which leads to the sink simply falling inside the section. This mistake can be expensive. When cutting, make sure that the saw does not catch on metal parts, such as confirmats or corners. If there are any, they should be temporarily removed

Please note, when you finish cutting, provide support for the inside of the cut countertop to prevent it from breaking under its own weight while the remaining piece of countertop is still uncut. Then it is important to carefully treat the cut area along the entire contour with silicone. Evenly distribute the silicone along the cut to prevent water from getting under the sink, which can cause damage. countertops

Install the sink brackets according to the instructions included with the sink.

If you do not have a seal that should be installed around the entire perimeter of the sink to prevent water from getting between the sink and the countertop, apply silicone around the entire perimeter of the sink that will contact the countertop.

Installing a sink

We tighten the sink fasteners around the perimeter to securely press it to the countertop surface.

After this, if silicone was used, carefully remove the excess and allow it to dry. This will ensure a better and more durable attachment of the sink to the countertop.
